About Us

In 1958, Alton’s folks — Lawrence and Eva — purchased a Hereford heifer for Alton as a 4-H project. The next three years, three more heifers were purchased for 4-H projects for Alton and his sister, Corinne.

In 1962 and 1963 the Malones sold their dairy herd and purchased their first Polled Hereford cows. They liked how gentle and easy they handled. By the late 1970s and early ’80s the herd had grown to nearly 400 registered cows. During this period they had two sales. To utilize their bulls more efficiently they had about the same number of fall and spring calving cows.

Bull bloodlines used over the years include: ALF Beu Rollo 53rd, Advanced Mischief, Justa Banner, TF Beau Mode 23X (Citation), F243, CMR Advanced Domino, Trojan,1103S, Bond, 434V, 1103S S3, LS Beau Victor 1 30, Bond and 434V.

The bull that had the most influence on their herd was one they raised — MHF Mr Charmer 1N. The Malones bred and shared him with Wasser and Winter from Washington. He was shown all over the U.S. and Canada. At one time, they had more than 100 1N daughters in their herd. They used 1N until he was 11 years old.

Now their cow herd is mostly sired by a Pilgrim x F243 son, 434V son, a Bond x F243 son and a GHC Maguire 27G son. Their cow herd currently consists of 75 registered cows.
